Clouds floating on the ceiling！Taipei’s dreamy café becomes an Instagram hotspot

Since last year, September Café in Taipei’s East District has hung white cloud decorations from the ceilings above window-side seats every summer. Dining under them is both therapeutic and magical, making these spots the café’s most popular. The window seats with a view of the clouds are all for two people, perfect for heart-to-heart chats with friends or romantic dates—sparking a wave of check-ins on Instagram, making it a dreamy restaurant visited by girls and influencers alike.

Opened in 2011 and now operating for over five years, September Café was built from scratch by three girls who returned to Taiwan after studying abroad. Leveraging their unique skills, they’ve made the café a standout success, establishing it as a popular eatery in the East District. Starting with just one coffee shop, they expanded earlier this year by adding a new bakery. The original location was converted into a takeaway-focused bakery, specializing in bread and cakes, while September Café moved to a nearby corner shop. According to the café, clouds are typically displayed in the summer, with plans to remove them by the end of September. Those wanting to see them should plan accordingly.

Popular menu items include the stunning “Rainbow Yogurt Bowl,” often seen on Instagram as girls snap photos of this photogenic dish. Salads are also a hit, with groups of friends often sharing one salad along with a few other dishes. The “Chicken Avocado Salad” is a top choice. Other favorites include the French toast brunch set, which comes with a small juice and a drink—the generous portion makes it a customer favorite.

Beyond coffee, drinks, brunch, and afternoon tea, September Café also functions as a wine bar. Friends looking to unwind with a drink and conversation can choose from beers, red wine, white wine, and more.
