As autumn arrives, Wangyuelou, a high-rise restaurant located in Banqiao, is launching its “Wanli Crab Feast” from September 15 to November 15. Since the planning stages, the restaurant has adhered to the philosophy of “from farm to table.” Head Chef Su Quanhui specially selects wild Wanli crabs caught by local fishermen from Wanli, making them the star of this autumn crab banquet.
The “Wanli Crab Feast” menu includes Crispy Crab Cakes with太子丝瓜 (NT$580), Taiwan Q Wanli Crab (NT$680), Drunken Sea Salt Q Crab (NT$680), Spicy and Sour Vermicelli Crab with Sichuan Pepper (NT$680), Flower Crab Meat Pearl Tofu (NT$1,580), and Mandarin Duck Rice Emperor Crab Meat Soup Dumplings (NT$260 per person / available at lunch).
Wanli crabs refer to wild sea crabs—including flower crabs, three-spot crabs, and stone crabs—caught using eco-friendly crab traps by professional Wanli fishermen. As these crabs mainly gather in the “Northwest Fishing Ground” off Fugui Cape in New Taipei City, the Wanli fishermen, who have long worked in the northern coastal waters, have developed Taiwan’s only specialized crab-catching fishery and crab trap techniques. Over 80% of the crabs served on dining tables across Taiwan come from the boats of Wanli fishermen.
