The popular South Korean ice cream brand Sweet Monster (Sweet Monster) set up a pop-up counter at Taipei Shin Kong Mitsukoshi A11 from May 19 to June 13. Its signature offering is ice cream covered with popcorn, satisfying two sweet treats in one. It has recently gone viral on Instagram. There are five flavors of the signature popcorn ice cream: cheese caramel mixed, chocolate, caramel, orange, and strawberry, each priced at NT$120. Additionally, there are three other ice cream flavors: milk, matcha, and chocolate chips, priced between NT$80 and NT$120.

Zheng Min, marketing representative for Sweet Monster, said that Sweet Monster’s ice cream contains not a single drop of water and is made with 75% imported Korean milk, making it less prone to melting compared to regular ice cream found in stores and giving it a richer flavor. For the popcorn ice cream, the process involves first extruding the ice cream and then rolling it in a box filled with popcorn. The fact that no water is added allows the popcorn to stick effectively during this rolling process. Zheng Min pointed out that all ingredients used by Sweet Monster are imported from South Korea.

If you’re not in the mood for ice cream, Sweet Monster also sells popcorn on its own, with options including cheese caramel mixed, chocolate, caramel, orange, and strawberry, all priced at NT$100. Additionally, there are three flavors of sparkling drinks—lemon, orange, and grapefruit—also priced at NT$100 each.
After the pop-up at Taipei Shin Kong Mitsukoshi A11 concludes, the next locations will be SOGO or Taipei Main Station. Following that, the brand plans to continue its pop-up tour across major department stores nationwide, hoping to let friends across Taiwan enjoy Sweet Monster’s popcorn ice cream.
