Typhoon Meranti Approaches Taiwan; Ferry Services to Green Island and Orchid Island Suspended for Two Days Starting September 13

Typhoon Meranti was upgraded to a strong typhoon on the afternoon of September 12. On September 11, the Port Authority announced the suspension of ferry services to outlying islands on September 13 and 14, with a total of 20 scheduled trips cancelled. The Indigenous Peoples Administration of Taitung County Government also announced the temporary postponement of the Indigenous Art Exhibition.

The Maritime and Port Bureau has released the following schedule of suspended ferry services to outlying islands:

September 13
1. All round-trip services between Fugang and Orchid Island are cancelled, totaling 2 trips.
2. All round-trip services between Houpihu and Orchid Island are cancelled, totaling 4 trips.
3. All round-trip services between Fugang and Green Island are cancelled, totaling 4 trips.

September 14
1. All round-trip services between Fugang and Orchid Island are cancelled, totaling 2 trips.
2. All round-trip services between Houpihu and Orchid Island are cancelled, totaling 4 trips.
3. All round-trip services between Fugang and Green Island are cancelled, totaling 4 trips.
