Typhoon Meranti barrels toward Taiwan; Lala Mountain and Guanwu Forest Recreation Area to close from the 14th

The Central Weather Bureau issued a land typhoon warning for Typhoon Meranti this morning, the 13th. Due to concerns over strong winds and heavy rains that may trigger landslides, falling rocks, and mudflows, the Hsinchu Forest District Office has decided, in the interest of visitor safety, to close the Lala Mountain Nature Reserve and Guanwu National Forest Recreation Area starting September 14 (Wednesday). The office also reminds visitors to heed posted warnings and not enter the areas without authorization to avoid danger.
The Hsinchu Forest District Office reminds the public to stay updated on typhoon information and to refrain from engaging in recreational or hiking activities in mountainous areas for the time being to ensure safety. The reopening schedule will be announced separately after assessing the typhoon’s progress, the condition of access roads, and following a comprehensive safety inspection.
