At 3:00 p.m. on July 26, the finals of the GIBBON Super Riders Selection Competition – Asia Outdoor Exhibition Station were held in the CD registration hall of the Asia Outdoor Exhibition. After several rounds of fierce competition, Lu Fenghua, Li Kangchao, and Lu Anmin won the championship, first runner-up, and second runner-up titles respectively.
During the interview, reporters learned that slacklining originated in Europe and initially involved simply walking on a flat webbing. After 2007, the sport evolved into various forms, including freestyle slacklining and highline slacklining.
Currently, freestyle slacklining has become the most popular form of the sport due to its dynamic performance rhythm and cool, diverse technical moves. This competition invited three judges to the finals of the GIBBON Super Riders Selection Competition – Asia Outdoor Exhibition Station: Chen Hui (aka: Slackline Hui), a renowned Chinese highline expert and Guinness World Record holder for highline walking; Yang Lianwu (aka: Nanjing Unfallen), a veteran slackliner from Nanjing; and Weng Jiayin, a slacklining coach at the Guangzhou Institute of Physical Education.
Ye Hangan, GIBBON Manager at Dotec (Shenzhen) Trading Co., Ltd., said: “Currently, the slacklining community in China is still relatively small, so having two major competitions per year provides a great platform for them to showcase their skills. For beginners, the most important thing is to control their balance, which involves using their arms, legs, and waist to manage their center of gravity. When on the slackline, it helps to focus your eyes on a point far down the line, which aids in maintaining stability. Our company has sponsored slacklining equipment to over 40 schools and established a partnership with the Guangzhou Institute of Physical Education. We hope more people will learn about and participate in this sport.”
