Q: Do you still stick to outdoor sports? What activities do you usually take part in?
A: Of course. The sports I often do include hiking, sea kayaking, and cycling. I once cycled from Alaska to Seattle — a journey of over 2,000 kilometers. The following year, I rode from San Diego through California all the way to Mexico, covering more than 1,200 miles. I believe that cycling is not just about the ride itself, but also about the people you meet along the way, which is what really appeals to me.
Q: Could you recommend some of the most anticipated VASQUE products for Chinese consumers in 2014?
A: The Grand Traverse is a technical hiking shoe. It’s very lightweight but offers great grip. The sole uses two different types of rubber, designed for downhill performance, focusing on both versatility and performance.

The ShapeShifter, or "Transformer", is made in a single pour and can adapt to different terrains. It’s also made from eco-friendly materials. The lacing adjustment at the front is done via a rotating dial.
Q: With the growing popularity of running, what product and market adjustments has VASQUE made in 2013?
A: We have made some adjustments. For example, people in China prefer shoes with Gore-Tex technology, while in the U.S. we might use other waterproof materials. So we’ve adapted to suit the preferences of the Chinese market.
Q: Currently, there are some running groups in China. Does VASQUE plan to support Chinese runners in domestic or international races?
A: We’re currently running initiatives to support running. Mostly, we bring American runners to China to compete in races and introduce relevant knowledge to Chinese athletes.

Q: More and more Chinese are traveling abroad. Can you recommend one worthwhile outdoor destination in the United States?
A: I think Seattle is an excellent choice. It has the ocean, mountains to the north and south, and snow in winter — perfect for a variety of outdoor activities.
