AirAsia's first A320neo in Southeast Asia can save 15% on fuel, leading to lower ticket prices!

AirAsia recently held a new aircraft delivery ceremony with aircraft manufacturer Airbus. This collaboration model is the first A320neo passenger aircraft in Southeast Asia equipped with CFM International LEAP-1A engines. Each aircraft can reduce fuel consumption by 15% per year and gain an additional 500 nautical miles of flight range. With lower costs, passengers will enjoy more affordable ticket prices.

Tony Fernandes, Group Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia, said the new aircraft has 186 seats, accommodating more passengers. Each passenger aircraft will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 5,000 tons per year, and engine noise will also be significantly reduced.

Kiran Rao, Executive Vice President of Planning and Marketing Operations at Airbus, pointed out that the A320neo’s 15% reduction in fuel consumption and low maintenance costs can set a new industry standard for AirAsia. He also noted that the A320neo is currently the most efficient single-aisle passenger aircraft in the world, and AirAsia passengers will enjoy the most comfortable cabin in the single-aisle aircraft category.
