Just as powerful Typhoon Meranti has departed, mid-strength Typhoon Malakas is bearing down fiercely on eastern Taiwan. To ensure public safety, numerous events have been cancelled and forest recreation areas closed starting today. Northern Taiwan:
Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf Stage (performances suspended on the 16th and 17th)
Taoyuan Land Art Festival (activities and shuttle buses suspended on the 17th)
Shifen Waterfall Park (entry suspended starting tomorrow, the 17th)

Eastern Taiwan:
Yilan Taipingshan (closed from the 16th to the 18th)
Yilan Fushan Botanical Garden (closed on the 17th and 18th)
Hualien Traditional Atayal Cultural Experience & Tribal Concert (postponed to October 1st)
Taitung Chiaming Lake National Trail, Chiaming Lake Mountain Hut/Campsite, and Shiyang Mountain Hut (closed from the 16th to the 25th)

Central Taiwan:
Hsinchu Forest District Office-managed Guanwu and Manyueyuan (closed from the 16th)
