Travel Center / Comprehensive Report
Food courts and themed restaurants have now become one of the cash cows for department stores. Not just in Taipei’s Breeze Group and Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, but even Kaohsiung’s Hanshin Dome Shopping Mall—aside from its already popular Din Tai Fung and Han Lai Harbor Restaurant—has successively introduced popular Taipei eats this year, such as Tim Ho Wan’s Hanshin Dome branch in Kaohsiung, which commenced operations in August, an
followed by Sushiro’s opening on September 20, and the upcoming launch of BAKE CHEESE TART in October.

Tim Ho Wan
The Hanshin Dome branch spans 106 ping (approximately 350 square meters) and accommodates 114 seats. The Tim Ho Wan culinary team has also developed two exclusive new dishes for the Hanshin Dome location: “Tang Bu Shuai” and “Osmanthus Shrimp Cotton Ball.” “Tang Bu Shuai” is made with glutinous rice, simmered in syrup, then drained and plated with toppings like peanut powder and white sesame, offering a crispy, smooth, and sweet taste. “Osmanthus Shrimp Cotton Ball” uses local Taiwanese seafood as filling, with a crispy outer crust. In response to the hot and humid southern weather, they’ve also specially paired Taipei Xinyi Branch’s best-selling “White Pepper Pork Tripe Soup” with Tang Bu Shuai and Osmanthus Shrimp Cotton Ball to create the chef’s recommended set.

Sushiro
Sushiro currently has stores open at Songjiang Nanjing, Taichung Guang San SOGO, JC PARK Zhongli, and Mitsui OUTLET Park. The fifth store has crossed the Zhuoshui River to southern Taiwan, setting up on the 7th floor of Hanshin Dome Kaohsiung. Currently under construction with wooden hoardings, the opening is expected this autumn. For sushi lovers in Kaohsiung, this is truly great news—finally you can enjoy sushi and play capsule toys at the same time.

BAKE CHEESE TART
The Japanese cheese tart brand “BAKE CHEESE TART,” originating from Hokkaido and once selling up to 20 million units a year—with each tart flying off shelves in under two seconds—is set to enter Hanshin Dome Shopping Mall in Kaohsiung. The expected opening date is October 5, allowing residents in the Kaohsiung area to purchase freshly baked BAKE CHEESE TARTs locally in Taiwan. “Bake Cheese Tart” started in Sapporo, Hokkaido, and has a 30-year history. The store’s signature cheese tart uses two types of cheese from Hokkaido and one type from France. These three cheeses come together to create the shop’s unique and proudly distinctive flavor. The making of the cheese tarts is also meticulous: first, the tart shell is baked until crisp like a cookie, then filled with cheese after baking, and put back in the oven for a second bake. Plus, every tart is freshly baked and sold daily.
