Taipei Ranks 15th Among the World’s Best Travel Cities in 2016, Surpassing Osaka and Rome

MasterCard today released its 2016Global Best Travel Cities survey report, which indicates that Taipei ranked 15th out of the 132 evaluated cities, up one place from the previous year.The top spot went to Bangkok, Thailand, known as a top tourist destination and the "City of Angels," while last year’s number one, London, slipped to second place.
According to the data, most cities showed an upward trend in tourist arrivals. Bangkok is projected to welcome 21.47 million international visitors in 2016, topping London’s 19.88 million. Taipei received 7.35 million visitors, with total tourist spending reaching $9 billion. The peak travel periods in Taipei are March and November to December each year.
