Over 1,600 domestic and international athletes participated in the Hong Kong 100
"From morning till night, we climbed countless mountains, witnessed breathtaking scenery, met incredibly supportive volunteers, tackled an extremely grueling course, and faced those stairs and rocks that made you want to throw up..." On January 18, the Hong Kong 100 Ultra Trail Race took place. The event attracted over 1,600 trail running enthusiasts from more than 40 countries and regions around the world. For many runners, this was their first 100-kilometer race, and it was also the first major ultra-trail event sponsored by the professional outdoor brand KAILAS in 2014.

As the opening event of the 2014 Ultra-Trail du Monde Tour (UTWT), the Hong Kong 100 garnered significant attention. The race also featured an elite lineup, including past champions such as the 2010 UTMB winner, the 2004 UTMB champion, and the 2012 Tor des Géants third-place finisher, among other top European and American athletes. Meanwhile, the mainland Chinese contingent showed unprecedented enthusiasm, with over 500 participants. All these elements made the competition highly exciting and the rivalry even fiercer.

"Whenever my body hit its limit and I felt exhausted with thoughts of quitting, I encouraged myself to bravely face every challenge in life. When I crossed the finish line, I proudly said: I can do it!" This was the post-race reflection from Yin Le, one of the KAILAS team members. He said KAILAS’s professional gear gave him and his teammates the strongest support—his KAILAS trail running shoes carried him through the entire race, and he didn’t change them even after countless uphill and downhill sections like many others did. A first-time racer himself, he admitted this unforgettable trail running experience brought him and his teammates the greatest joy in an extreme race.
