The Alishan Forest Railway has officially postponed its reopening. Affected by Typhoon Megi, the railway, which was originally set to resume operations on the 29th, according to the Alishan Forest Railway Management Office,will extend its repair schedule due to numerous landslides and fallen trees along the line (Chiayi to Fenchihu) that are not easily cleared. Train services will be suspended on both September 30 and October 1..

Aside from the main line, all branch lines (Zushan, Shenshu, and Zhaoping) within the Alishan Forest Recreation Area have resumed normal operations as of 9:00 AM on September 29 after emergency repairs. The Alishan Forest Railway stated that passengers who had booked tickets for the originally suspended services can apply for a full refund at any Taiwan Railways Administration or forest railway station ticket window within one year from the original travel date, without incurring any refund handling fees.
