Wandering Through the Stone Village
Legend has it that 600 years ago, a Buyi family surnamed Wu settled here and gradually built up the village. This is a settlement of the Buyi ethnic group and also known as the “Hometown of Buyi Batik.” The entire village spreads out along a mountainside, with tiered stone houses neatly arranged. Stone steps, stone walls, stone arches, stone tiles — behind the village, lush forests and bamboo grow on the mountains, while fruit trees flourish within. Household items such as mortars, mills, bowls, troughs, and jars are all made of stone. Coming here feels like entering a “Kingdom of Stone.” About 80% of the adult women in the village can do batik, over half the households have dye vats, and roughly one-third of the families are engaged in textile production. The batik and textiles of Stone Village are known for their rustic and elegant charm. Strolling among the blue-tiled stone walls, you can feel the 600-year-old Buyi cultural essence, allowing the restlessness of a worldly heart to be soothed here.
Setting Up Camp by the Langgong River
A stretch of emerald water, as smooth as a mirror, with tree shadows complementing mountain silhouettes and white clouds setting off the blue sky, reflected on the water’s surface — it’s hard to tell where the form ends and the reflection begins, as if you’ve arrived at the Amazon. This is the Langgong River. High gorges and calm lakes, vast and serene, with mountains mirrored in the clear waters and waters cradling the mountain ranges, forming hundreds of peninsulas, islands, and bays. Rolling hills stretch for miles, with reeds covering the fields and scattered villages, where smoke curls lazily from chimneys. The scenic area also features several attractions, including the Flame Mountain Primitive Plant Reserve, the Puding Dam Plateau Grassland, the national key cultural relic protection site — the Chuan Dong Ancient Human Site, and the Lotus Cave. Several thousand-year-old banyan trees, bloodwood trees, and yellowhorn trees densely shade the entire village. On the small hill behind the village, amid lush greenery, a few rooftops peek out. Children play inside tree hollows, girls spin and embroider under the trees, and young men sit on the thick, gnarled tree roots singing and playing flutes — a rare and idyllic scene of traditional life.
