Matthew Peltier won the men’s full marathon championship with a time of 2 hours and 18 minutes. The women’s champion was British runner Sarah Brown, with a time of 3 hours, 1 minute, and 47 seconds.
The Reykjavik Marathon was founded in 1983 by two local entrepreneurs, initially with the idea of attracting foreign tourists to Iceland. In addition, the Reykjavik Marathon also raises funds for charitable organizations. In 2014, approximately $680,000 was raised.
