Located in Yuli Township, Hualien, within the Huatung Valley, there is a wetland ecosystem called "Yuli Wetlands" that even many locals don’t know about. Nestled between rolling green mountains, this man-made ecological wetland features waters that appear even more lush and beautiful under the blue sky and white clouds. Its rich biodiversity has attracted many birdwatchers, making it a hidden spot for photography enthusiasts and nature lovers.

Originally created by the Environmental Protection Bureau to treat wastewater from Yuli Township, Yuli Wetlands covers nearly 5.9 hectares and is now managed by the Qimo Li Community Development Association. The wetland uses two ecological ponds to filter, absorb, decompose, and purify wastewater before releasing it into the Shoufeng River. After years of ecological cycling, the ponds are now rich in biodiversity, attracting migratory ducks and other birds that fly from Siberia to Taiwan for the winter.

In addition to its rich ecology, Yuli Wetlands also forms a picturesque scene with the surrounding mountain ranges. The blue sky and white clouds reflected on the water create a fairy-tale-like view. Although the wetland is incredibly scenic, there have been occasional reports of littering. Visitors are reminded to take their trash with them to help preserve this rare natural beauty.
