Mandarin Oriental Taipei has partnered for the first time with the prestigious British tea brand JING to launch the “JING Classic Tea Afternoon Tea” at “Qing Yu” from October 16 to November 27, 2016. Designed by French Executive Pastry Chef Gregory Doyen (桂格瑞.铎彦), the exclusive afternoon tea draws inspiration from JING’s tea artistry spirit, priced at NT$1,250 per person + 10%.
JING combines Asian tea ceremony culture with British tea traditions. Having been quality-tested by 50 Michelin-starred restaurants and hundreds of five-star hotels worldwide, it is highly favored by tea enthusiasts. The renowned British three-Michelin-starred restaurant The Fat Duck, which once topped the S. Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants list, also exclusively uses JING teas.
The premium British tea brand JING, based in London, uses only the most classic and rare specialty tea varieties from around the world. It insists on preserving whole leaves without adding any flavorings, delivering the purest taste of the tea. The accompanying tea ware is equally exquisite, featuring handcrafted borosilicate glass that allows the vibrant color changes of the tea liquor to be clearly visible—something not as easily observed with ceramic teapots or porcelain.
The afternoon tea desserts include South African Rooibos Nun Puff, Blackcurrant and Roselle Jelly with Strawberry Coulis, Ceylon Tea Cake with Candied Orange, Mint Chocolate Bites, and Tea-Infused Apple Cheese Tart. The set also includes traditional English scones and five additional specially made savory items: Tender Chicken Roll Sandwich with Blackcurrant and Roselle Tea Mayonnaise, Lemongrass and Ginger Prawn Puff with Fish Roe, Cheese Marshmallow Cucumber Roll with Mint Jelly, Smoked Salmon Egg Salad with Mini Croissants, and Lorraine-Style Bacon Quiche.
