Shanghai, April 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Recently,SGSSGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as SGS) has successfully passed the qualification review of the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (abbreviated as NADCAP) in the United States and obtained the Nondestructive Testing Process Certification. The acquisition of NADCAP certification opens the door for SGS to enter the nondestructive testing field in aerospace and aviation. Currently, SGS is the only third-party testing organization in China with NADCAP nondestructive testing qualification certification.
NADCAP is a system jointly initiated and developed by giants in the U.S. aerospace and defense industries, the U.S. Department of Defense, the Society of Automotive Engineers of the United States, and other institutions, specifically for certifying special products and processes in the aerospace industry. After years of development, NADCAP has become a mandatory requirement in the aviation commercial process. The NADCAP community includesAirbus, GE,Boeing,the U.S.GoddardSpace Flight Center, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce, and other highly reputable multinational aerospace manufacturing companies.Airbus,Boeing, and GE all require their suppliers to obtain NADCAP certification forspecial processesprojects. Therefore, obtaining the NADCAP qualification certification means that SGS is now qualified to provide nondestructive testing services for these multinational companies.
Currently, SGS has established X-ray and fluorescent penetrant testing laboratories for providing nondestructive testing of aviation components in accordance with NADCAP requirements. The X-ray testing laboratory uses a full set of X-ray testing equipment produced by GE Inspection Technologies, including advanced X-ray machines, industrial CTs, CR scanners, and fully automatic film processors, capable of conducting X-ray testing on various aviation casting components. The fluorescent penetrant testing laboratory has introduced an automated fluorescent penetrant testing production line from Magnaflux in the United States, along with high-sensitivity penetrant testing materials from the same company, and is now capable of batch processing surface fluorescent penetrant testing for aviation components. All the above laboratories follow strict daily management and quality control in accordance with NADCAP requirements and employ several senior and intermediate testing personnel who have passed the NAS410 certification. Whether in terms of equipment resources, management capabilities, or personnel quality, SGS meets the NADCAP testing requirements for aviation products.
The acquisition of the NADCAP qualification certification has broadened SGS’s nondestructive testing business scope in the aerospace and aviation field.
