The Korea Culture & Tourism Expo Draws Huge Crowds with Star Power from Gary

The expo opened with a spectacular performance by the world-renowned dance group “Korean Traditional B-Boy,” champions of the international street dance competition “R16.” It also featured the appointment ceremony for the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics ambassadors. President Jeong Chang-soo stated that Taiwan is the fourth-largest source of visitors to Korea, but most travelers focus on Seoul, Busan, and Jeju Island. Therefore, the Korea Tourism Organization is actively promotingcustomized tours of lesser-known regions in Koreato allow global travelers to discover more beautiful and diverse aspects of Korea.

This marks Gary’s first visit to Taiwan for an event since announcing his departure from the fixed cast of Running Man. He expressed regret at not being able to see the show through to the end with the audience, but revealed he is currently working hard on new music and will include Chinese songs for his Taiwanese fans. He hopes everyone will look forward to it. Gary also highly recommended winter travel in Korea, where visitors can enjoy snowscapes as well as fun skiing and snowboarding activities. Additionally, at the request of host Huang Zi Jiao, he revealed that his favorite restaurant is Gwangju Shikdang located in Seoul’s Gangnam District. During the fan interaction session, Gary generously shared information about popular spots in Korea and even had close interactions with fans who won games.

The “Enjoy Your Innovative Korea – 2016 Korea Culture & Tourism Expo” invited a total of 20 organizations and 26 booths to participate, offering the public an authentic taste of Korean culture, delicious Korean food, and information on Korean attractions. In addition, the stage area featured travel lectures shared by Korean travel experts and a lineup of performances. The “Gugak B-Boy” and the modern innovative music performance group “Fantastick Show Fanta-Stick” will also put on multiple shows during the event. Gary will hold another fan meeting on the second day of the expo.

Another highlight of the expo is the popular VR experience zone, where visitors can use virtual reality to try out Winter Olympic events from Pyeongchang 2018—such as ski jumping and short track speed skating—or explore various Korean cultural tourism routes to experience the scenery, traditional culture, and culinary delights of different regions.

The Korea Tourism Organization and its Taipei branch announced that the Korea Culture & Tourism Expo is launching a “Double Stamp Rally Giveaway” campaign. Visitors who collect all stamps during the expo period can receive a colorful phone card case and enter a lucky draw, with the grand prize being two round-trip free flights to Korea. Moreover, those who visit the Korea Pavilion at the “Taipei International Travel Fair” at Hall 1 of the Taipei World Trade Center from November 4 to 7 may have the chance to win merchandise from “Descendants of the Sun.” Fans of Korean culture or those planning a trip to Korea shouldn’t miss out!
