The 2016 ITF Taipei International Travel Fair was held grandly from November 4 to November 7. Although the public entrance only opened at 12 noon on the first day, eager visitors lined up early in the morning to grab discounted flight tickets and meal vouchers. This year’s fair featured exhibitors from 60 countries and 1,450 booths. In addition to aggressive discount offers, exhibitors also focused on creative booth designs and engaging activities to attract visitors. On the opening day, a total of 73,542 people attended, a 2.95% increase from last year. The weekend days are the main events of the fair, so here are 3 essential tips to consider before visiting.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Taipei International Travel Fair, which is being held from November 4 to 7 at Taipei World Trade Center Halls 1 and 3, where one ticket grants access to both exhibitions. To celebrate the 30th anniversary, airlines and travel agencies have rolled out a series of great deals, while various exhibitors have prepared gift bags and special performances to capture public attention.

This travel fair also features creative booth designs. China Airlines has brought a full-scale A350 cabin mockup, giving out limited boarding passes daily so visitors can experience flying in luxury business class, premium economy, and family cabins.

Additionally, the Taiwan Pavilion by the Tourism Bureau features giant art installations like xiaolongbao (soup dumplings), red bean cakes, and blue-white plastic slippers to showcase local flavor. The realistic displays attracted many visitors for photos. There’s also an interactive treasure hunt, a 250 cm giant slide, and DIY Oh Bear marshmallows. Though the adorable treats are only for free giveaways, you must join the interactive activities to get one.

The Korea Pavilion also presents performances like “Fantasy Show” and “Jeongdong Theater – SILLA: Silla Dynasty” to draw crowds. The area is decorated with large banners of Song Joong-ki and character plush toys, letting fans take a piece of “Lieutenant Yoo” home.
And Japan, the most beloved travel destination for Taiwanese, will feature many Japanese railway companies at this year's event, including JR East Japan, Nankai Electric Railway, and Sanyo Electric Railway, allowing travelers planning to visit Japan to purchase transportation tickets in Taiwan beforehand.
