The ITF Taipei International Travel Fair concluded on the 7th. Despite the recent economic downturn, the public showed no hesitation in snapping up meal and accommodation vouchers. The two major hotel groups, Regent and Les Suites, both achieved sales exceeding NT$100 million, while other hotels also saw growth in their performance. Even the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, participating for the first time, recorded NT$10 million in sales.
The Les Suites Group, which boasts popular all-you-can-eat buffets such as Twelve Cuisine, Exploration Kitchen, and Les Suites Le Kitchen, saw long queues at its booth from the very first day of the fair. Its sales on the first day reached NT$24 million, breaking through NT$50 million on the second day, with one customer even spending over NT$3 million in a single transaction. By the final day, the Les Suites Group had surpassed the NT$100 million mark, reaching NT$120 million in sales.
As for the Regent Hotel, which also exceeded NT$100 million in sales, its buffet restaurant, The Park Lane, has always been a hot item at the travel fair. Additionally, its value-for-money passport package priced at NT$9,999 was also very popular. Over the four days, including online sales, the Regent’s total sales reached NT$135 million. The Grand Hyatt Hotel, which also has a popular buffet restaurant, Café Royal, achieved sales of NT$40 million.
This year (2016), the ITF Taipei International Travel Fair saw a total of 361,071 visitors, a 3.67% increase compared to 2015, once again setting a new record for attendance. Since the final day of the fair fell on a weekday, the organizers extended the event hours until 7 PM to accommodate working individuals who wanted to shop during the last chance to buy.
