Travel Center / Comprehensive Report
Originally scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2017, Taoyuan’s “Xinxikou Suspension Bridge” has now finished construction of the main bridge structure, walkway facilities, and drainage systems. However, as peripheral facilities and supporting infrastructure are still under construction, the opening will be postponed until January next year (2018) to coincide with the Hot Spring Carnival. Once opened, the 303-meter-long bridge will surpass Pingtung’s Shan Chuan Liuli Suspension Bridge to become Taiwan’s longest “hammock-style suspension bridge.”

The “Xinxikou Suspension Bridge,” like Pingtung’s Shan Chuan Liuli Suspension Bridge, also adopts a hammock-style design, with both sides raised in an M-shape. The bridge deck sits between 252 and 275 meters above sea level, offering a rhythmic and quite thrilling walking experience. The Fuxing District Office stated that the Xinxikou Suspension Bridge connects the two sides of Jiabanshan and Xikou tribes, located upstream of the Shimen Reservoir, with the Dahan River below. Depending on the reservoir’s water levels during dry and full periods, visitors can enjoy varying scenic views of the lake. Aside from taking in the surrounding reservoir and mountain landscapes, visitors can also admire the scenery of Jiabanshan Park. Once completed, it is set to become a new landmark for Taoyuan and even all of Taiwan, which is highly anticipated.
