Find the Bluebird of Happiness in Life – Taipei Huashan’s Newly Opened Independent Bookstore Café

On October 1 this year, Taipei Huashan welcomed a new independent bookstore called The Bluebird. Unlike chain bookstores, this space offers not just books but also simple coffee, light meals, and snacks. The bookshelves are complemented by tables and chairs for reading and resting, and various cultural and art events are held irregularly. The space is now more lively and interactive — bustling yet engaging. Named after the bluebird, it aims to rediscover the original joy of life and freedom.

The Bluebird Bookstore began its trial operation on October 1 and is located on the second floor of Huashan. It officially opened on December 5. The store’s three walls of bookshelves are filled with titles recommended by experts from various fields, mostly in the humanities and arts categories. The bookstore doesn’t just sell books — it also offers coffee, tea, light meals, and seating. Starting at 10 a.m. every day, the glass-walled second-floor Bluebird Bookstore opens its doors, and people come in, browse, search, or perhaps order a cup of coffee and sit down.

Sesame Latte $170

The Bluebird Bookstore uses Pellucidor dark-roast coffee beans. The sesame latte has a grey layer at the bottom that needs to be gently stirred with a spoon before drinking. It offers a rich coffee flavor with a subtle hint of sesame.

English Scone $120

One order includes two scones, served with strawberry jam on the side. They’re slightly crispy with a faint eggy aroma, and when spread with strawberry jam, they become moist and sweet.
