A well-known Taiwanese dessert brandCarpenter’s Handmaderecently launched a new pudding product that looks exactly like Taiwan’s iconic everyday dish, roujiamo, leaving netizens exclaiming, “If you haven’t tasted it yourself, you’d never believe it’s a pudding.”

Following their realistic-looking dinosaur fossil chocolate that stirred up online buzz, Carpenter’s Handmade has once again sparked heated discussion with their new product, “Roujiamo Pudding.” This latest creation uses sweet golden sweet potato in place of the meat, paired with crispy, snow-white popcorn rice standing in for rice, along with a bouncy, sweet pudding. Those who’ve tried it say, “The sweet potato is lovely and sweet, the popcorn rice adds texture, and the pudding isn’t too sweet but very fragrant.”

Golden roujiamo meat paired with chewy rice is one of Taiwanese people’s favorite everyday dishes, and also a must-try for many foreign visitors to Taiwan. Now, dessert makers have cleverly transformed a savory dish into a sweet one, once again challenging people’s visual and taste senses.
