I still remember my first visit to Da Yue for brunch over a year ago. After more than a year, the restaurant has expanded its menu options significantly and adjusted its operating hours. Recently, they’ve even started offering dinner and late-night snack services.

Running a restaurant is no easy feat, especially in today’s tough economic climate and highly competitive F&B industry. The female owner used to run a night market stall, and her nocturnal schedule inspired her to open her own place. Every detail here has been personally managed by her, showcasing the resilience of a woman entrepreneur. Every visit brings something surprising, and this time, it was our first evening meal here.

We usually opt for the ground floor, but this time we decided to try the air-conditioned second floor. The interior elements haven’t changed much, except for the slight rearrangement of seating. Though it’s a Korean restaurant, it has a touch of industrial style.

Expanding from a breakfast and brunch spot to include dinner, the restaurant retains its popular dishes while introducing many new ones. Here, you can enjoy a wide range of Korean cuisine, all at very affordable prices.

The restaurant has also brought some of Korea’s current food trends to Kaohsiung, such as flower platters and beer-fried chicken, both inspired by Seoul’s latest food crazes. The ordering system is self-service: just check off your choices and head to the ground floor counter to place your order.

Korean BBQ – Spicy Pork Belly 190 TWD

Comes with a bowl of white rice, kimchi, and dipping sauces.

Aside from the pork in the center, there’s also plenty of vegetables around. As the meat juice drips into the broth, the flavor shifts from light to sweet and savory.

The pork is pre-marinated, offering rich flavor with a hint of spice—quite different from traditional tabletop Korean BBQ, with its own unique twist.

Seafood Stone Pot Rice 250 TWD
This was my first time trying seafood stone pot rice—the aroma of fresh shrimp is incredibly appetizing.

The garlic stone pot rice also contains seafood, likely diced squid. The slight orange-red hue of the rice comes from Korean seasonings, making it delicious in both look and taste.

Flower Platter 159 TWD
The concept is inspired by Korea’s street-side meals. The base is a drink cup, and the top is a specially custom-made container that holds various dishes.

The Flower Platter comes in multiple flavors—we chose the grilled pork belly option, which includes grilled pork, french fries, onions, fried items, and noodles. Paired with a drink, this portion size is perfect for a late-night meal, though it’s great anytime.

It’s amazing how much fits into these small containers—you can even take leftovers home.

Beer Fried Chicken 139 TWD
The red sauce is spicy; those who don’t like heat can opt for the black sauce instead. Similar to the Flower Platter concept, the base holds the beer while the top container holds the fried chicken. The stackable design makes it super convenient for eating on the go.

● 《ET News Cloud》 reminds you: Don’t drink and drive, and don’t drive after drinking.

Both the Flower Platter and beer-fried chicken concepts are currently very popular in Korea, and you won’t find many similar spots in Kaohsiung.

Iced Tea 60 TWD (left), Plum Juice 50 TWD (right)
The creatively designed drink pouches—last time we had customized bottled drinks, but now they come in pouches, which are also convenient to take home if you can’t finish them. We tried many dishes here, and we’re impressed by the chef’s skills, which align perfectly with our tastes. Every visit brings something new, showcasing Korea’s latest food trends with creativity and care. You can experience Seoul-level food trends right here in Kaohsiung without flying to Korea.
