Fruit carving artistLee Chun-Ling, who has won multiple international culinary awards, traveled to Germany again in October this year to take part in the A-Class World Event of the 24th 2016 “IKA Culinary Olympics.” Among over 3,000 contestants from 53 countries, he stood out and won the gold medal in static fruit carving for his piece“Nüwa Mends the Sky”, as well as a bronze medal in dynamic fruit carving for his work “Maitreya Buddha.”

The Tiancheng Hotel Group stated that “Nüwa Mends the Sky” uses fresh taro from Dajia, Taiwan as the main carving material. The initial concept revolved around global warming and environmental themes, which were then combined with Chinese folk mythology to depict the scene where Nüwa rides a dragon through the clouds to mend the sky after the battle between the water god Gonggong and the fire god Zhurong.

From November 24 to December 5, 2016, the award-winning static artwork “Nüwa Mends the Sky” will be displayed in the first-floor lobby of Taipei Garden Hotel under the Tiancheng Hotel Group. Interested visitors are welcome to come and see it.
