Vietnam’s Abandoned Water Park Becomes a Must-Visit for Adventurers
According to the UK's Daily Mail on January 12, an abandoned water park in Hương Thủy District, Huế City, Vietnam, has become a must-visit destination for many adventure travelers due to its outdated facilities, desolate and dilapidated appearance, and overall eerie vibe.
It is reported that the water park was only partially completed when it opened in 2004 and was never fully finished. It was eventually abandoned mid-construction and left to decay naturally. Palm leaves have twined around the sides of the water slides, algae has grown in the lake, and even alligators have made their home there, unattended. At the park’s entrance stands a giant dragon statue encircling the spherical entryway, its huge head and upward-curving mouth creating a spectacular sight. Visitors can stand on the other side of the lake to see the dragon’s large, jagged teeth.
Courtney Lambert, an adventurer from Florida, USA, recently took a series of photos of the park and uploaded them to his blog. He wrote: “The entire park looks like a crashed spaceship, with an extraterrestrial sitting in the middle of a shimmering artificial lake, enjoying a carefree life.”
It is reported that Lambert also wrote to the Humane Society and the World Wildlife Fund regarding the situation of the alligators in the park. Later, the Vietnamese government relocated the alligators to a wildlife park for protection.
