Taiwan’s Only – André Chiang Once

On November 29, French magazine Le Chef released its 2017 list of the World’s 100 Best Chefs. In this latest ranking, renowned Taiwanese chef André Chiang once again made the list. In addition to André Chiang, another well-known chef to Taiwanese people is Yoshihiro Nakazawa, who is also the only Asian chef ranked in the top five globally.

Le Chef magazine publishes its annual Global 100 Chefs list, which is compiled based on selections by around 500 Michelin two- and three-star chefs from around the world. Each nominates five chefs they believe best embody the role of a chef and whom they would most like to see on the World’s 100 Best Chefs list. It is one of the highest accolades for chefs and serves as a key reference for food lovers seeking top dining experiences.

In addition to André Chiang and Yoshihiro Nakazawa, the list includes Yannick Alléno, who has a branch (S.T.A.Y.) in Taiwan, Jiro Ono—known as the god of sushi in Japan—Richard Ekkebus, chef of Hong Kong’s two-Michelin-starred AMBER, and Virgilio Martinez, chef of Lima’s CENTRAL restaurant in Peru, who recently held a guest residency at RAW in Taiwan.
