Welcome the First Dawn of 2017 — Alishan Forest Railway New Year's Eve Tickets Go on Sale December 16

Are you ready to head up to Alishan to welcome the first ray of dawn in 2017? Please note that the Alishan Forest Railway Administration announced today (December 1),that from December 31 of this year to January 2 of next year, the main line of the forest railway (the Chiayi–Fenchihu main line) will operate two round-trip services per day. Tickets for each service will go on sale online starting at 6:00 AM on December 16,With 2016 entering its final month, don’t miss out on seeing the first dawn of the year, believed to bring luck all year long.

The Alishan Forest Railway also noted that in response to visitor demand during the 2017 New Year holiday, the “2017 Zhushan Sunrise Train” will begin operations at 2:00 AM on that day. It is expected to run 16 outbound services, with 10 of them open for group reservations of 20 people or more—each service accommodates 250 passengers. On the return trip (from Zhushan to Alishan), eight services will be available, allowing passengers to choose any service, with each limited to 150 pre-booked seats.

The Alishan Forest Railway stated that tickets for each service of the “2017 Zhushan Sunrise Train” will be available for phone reservation by groups of 20 or more starting at 9:00 AM on December 8, with a limit of 100 people per call. General visitors can purchase tickets in person from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM on December 31 at the ticket office on the first floor of Alishan Station ( Taiwan Railways and the Forest Railway have suspended advance sales for the 2016 New Year’s Day Zhushan Line sunrise train services). Each person may purchase up to 10 tickets per transaction, and tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
