Parking lots aren’t just for cars — they can also lend you books. New Taipei City’s first smart library located inside a parking structure, the Luzhou Ren’ai Smart Library, has officially opened. Covering an area of about 200 pyeong (approximately 660 square meters), the library houses over 13,000 books and operates entirely via self-service. All you need is an EasyCard library card to easily borrow and return books, and the library also offers periodical lending services.

The Luzhou Ren’ai Smart Library is the third smart library established in New Taipei City, following the Banqiao Station Low-Carbon Smart Library and the Xinzhuang Touqian Smart Library. It is also the first library in New Taipei to be built inside a parking lot.

The entire library uses high-tech RFID technology and is equipped with automatic doors and self-service borrowing and returning equipment. Visitors can swipe their cards to enter, independently borrow books and materials, and complete the return process — all through self-service. The library also features a book sterilizer and free Wi-Fi, offering readers both a convenient way to sanitize books and wireless internet access.

The library caters to the needs of families in the community by providing more than 13,000 books across various genres, including literature, travel, cookbooks, comics, parent-child, children’s, and youth titles, as well as 28 different types of periodicals. In addition, there are dedicated areas such as the children’s zone, periodical section, foreign language book section, stack area, reading area, information retrieval area, and self-service area.

All 70 reading seats in the library are equipped with USB charging ports, and the space is designed to accommodate barrier-free reading. The window-side reading area features bright green bookshelf walls that echo the scenery outside, offering excellent lighting and views. Paired with bar-style reading tables, the space is filled with fresh green vibes.
