The romantic beauty of the Eiffel Tower in Paris is unforgettable for many. Now, at an altitude of 1,314 meters in Taoyuan’s Fuxing District, a miniature version of the tower — “Baleng Tower” — has emerged. It was lit up for the first time on the evening of the 14th. The structure, paired with colorful LED light projections, is strikingly eye-catching and has become a new romantic spot for photos.

Baleng Tower was specifically built at an altitude of 1,314 meters, a number that sounds like “one life, one lifetime” (一生一世 in Chinese). The first phase of the main structure has been completed. Once the second phase of peripheral facilities is finished, it is expected to open to the public during Christmas in December. Though climbing the tower isn’t allowed, it is still a great spot for couples and social media influencers to take photos.

The main body of the tower is red and about 10 stories high. It takes inspiration from Lala Mountain’s peaches and the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and features diamond-shaped weavings around the tower symbolizing the eyes of the Atayal people’s ancestral spirits. When night falls and the LED projections light up, the shining tower can be seen from nearby mountain villages over 10 in number.

The lighting design uses the three primary colors, allowing for various color combinations. Currently, different color schemes are set for holidays such as Chinese New Year, Mid-Autumn Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, Christmas, and regular holidays.
