Future airports will feel like sci-fi movies: molecular laser body scans and biometrics replacing passports

Airports can be either a joy or a nightmare, especially when you're held up at security for not following luggage regulations. Security checks are indeed the most time-consuming part of international travel, but in the future, manual security screenings may gradually become a thing of the past.

According to the UK's Daily Mail,by 2040, virtual security assistants and molecular security scanners may start appearing at airports, and airline tickets may also adopt biometric methods. What does this mean? With the rise of online check-in, biometrics could soon replace passports, boarding passes, and more—travelers won’t need to carry multiple documents but will instead have everything on a single ID.

Currently, London Heathrow Airport in the UK and Amsterdam Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands have already begun related testing, using molecular laser body scans that allow passengers to pass through security quickly without queuing in long lines.
