Typhoon No. 9 "Son-Tinh" may form this weekend; high temperatures persist, stay protected from sun and hydrated

From today until the morning of tomorrow, southern cloud systems will move northward. Showers are expected in southeastern Taiwan and the Hengchun Peninsula, with a chance of localized heavy rain. Localized brief showers may occur in eastern, northeastern Taiwan, Kinmen, Matsu, and mountainous areas in the south. Other regions and Penghu will be mostly cloudy to sunny, with localized brief thunderstorms in the western half of the island during the afternoon.

The Central Weather Bureau has issued high-temperature alerts. The orange alert (high risk) is for Taoyuan City in northern Taiwan; the yellow alert (moderate risk) applies to New Taipei City and Taipei City. In the south: Kaohsiung City and Pingtung County. Temperatures will be very high. Around noon on the 14th, some areas in the north and south may reach orange or yellow high-temperature alerts, with a likelihood of continuous highs of 36°C. Avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, labor, and sports. Take sun protection measures, stay well-hydrated, and be cautious of heat-related illnesses.
