So much fun you won’t want to go home — Qijin Black Sand Art Festival with free admission

Where to go in the scorching summer? The “2018 Qijin Black Sand Art Festival,” themed “Kaohsiung — A Place I Don’t Want to Leave,” features 14 unique sand sculptures, along with two major events: the “Beach Cleanup Treasure Hunt EDM Party” and the “Sunshine Youth Sports Party.” The event runs from July 14 to August 26.

This year’s event has three major highlights: 14 distinctive themed sand sculptures available for free viewing, the “Beach Cleanup Treasure Hunt EDM Party” on July 14, and the “Sunshine Youth Sports Party” on August 18, as well asthe “Qijin 520 Limited-Time Accommodation Offer.”。

The “Qijin 520 Limited-Time Accommodation Offer” allows visitors staying at designated hotels during the event period to receive round-trip ferry tickets between Qijin and Gushan Ferry Terminal or Qijin and The Pier-2 Art Center, along with exclusive event souvenirs. The Tourism Bureau has also gathered 20 local Qijin merchants to distribute 20,000 value-packed discount coupons.

On weekends throughout the event, a series of experience activities are planned, including self-built boat races, rowing, kite flying, and creative sand sculpture DIY. Visitors can use either a simplified roaming map or a detailed Qijin travel guidebook to explore Qijin’s alleys, uncover local stories, sample delicious food, and discover a different side of Qijin.
