Giant airplane as the backdrop: A ruin transformed into a popular photo spot

In 2015, there were plans to build an airplane-themed restaurant in Guanyin District, Taoyuan, which even involved transporting a real decommissioned airplane to land just outside the restaurant. However, the structure was deemed illegal and violated land use regulations, leading to its forced demolition. The airplane, however, remained on site, attracting many netizens to visit and take photos.

The originally planned Golden Lake Scenic Restaurant in Guanyin District drew local attention from the early stages of transporting the real airplane to the construction of the restaurant building. At the time, the aim was to create synergy between the airport-style restaurant and the Lotus Festival to boost tourism in Guanyin District. Its eventual demolition due to being an illegal structure left many feeling disappointed.

However, the airplane remained on-site, later attracting many netizens to take photos and get up close to a real aircraft. It has now become an alternative attraction.

Aside from taking pictures with the airplane in Guanyin District, visitors can also enjoy lotus-related activities during the Lotus Festival at various lotus gardens, such as sitting on giant lotus flowers. Additionally, you can explore nearby attractions including Xiangyang Farm, the Totoro Bus Stop, and Bai Sha Jiao Lighthouse, making it suitable for a one-day trip itinerary.
