Tainan’s Koji Bar’s fresh milk crispy egg waffles became popular with their cat-paw-shaped waffles, and recently they’ve jumped on the matcha trend by introducing a series of matcha-flavored Cat Paw Pancakes that double the cuteness—capturing the hearts of both matcha lovers and cat enthusiasts in one go.

Cat Paw Pancakes resemble the soft paw pads (or footpads) of cats—a super adorable part that’s hard for cat lovers to resist. Koji Bar’s Cat Paw Pancakes come in four colors: original flavor (caramel), strawberry (pink), chocolate (black), while the newly launched matcha series all feature the classic caramel-colored original Cat Paw Pancake exterior.

Knowing that matcha fans would want to try multiple flavors at once, the shop has introduceda matcha series combo where you can enjoy 4 different matcha Cat Paw Pancakes in one go: Matcha QQ Marshmallow, Matcha Red Bean Custard, Matcha Custard, and Matcha QQ Custard. One set of 4 costs 50 NTD.

These cat-shaped matcha egg waffles burst with flavor when you bite into them, releasing the distinct bitter-sweet aroma of matcha that complements the custard just right without being overly sweet. Paired with red beans, they become the perfect duo—balancing the sweetness of the beans with the slight bitterness of the matcha. When combined with QQ Marshmallow, they add a bouncy texture that’s incredibly moreish.

If you find a favorite flavor after trying them, you can also order them individually. The Matcha Custard Red Bean and Matcha Custard QQ are 15 NTD each, while the Matcha Custard and Matcha QQ Marshmallow can be ordered as a set of 3 (including fillings) for 35 NTD.

Koji Bar Fresh Milk Crispy Egg Waffles is a small food stall often spotted near Anping Elementary School in Tainan or near Lin Mo Niang Park. Their pink-toned stall specializes in nostalgic egg waffles, using various molds to give the waffles fun shapes—among which the “Cat Paw Pancakes,” launched in mid-June, are the most popular, selling an estimated 300 pieces a day.

The owner mentioned that because the matcha flavor has been so well-received, they’ll now sell it on weekends too, pairing it with custard, red beans, and QQ Marshmallow so even those who are hesitant about matcha flavors will give it a try.
