Zero-distance high-altitude cliff experience – Osaka’s newest must-do attraction

Osaka’s new landmark, the Abeno HARUKAS building, has been Japan’s tallest skyscraper since its opening in 2014, surpassing Yokohama’s LANDMARK TOWER. Standing at 300 meters tall, Abeno HARUKAS houses department stores, scenic restaurants, and a high-altitude observation deck, and has recently launched an experiential amusement facility where visitors can enjoy thrilling heights on the rooftop.

Floors B2 to 14 of the Abeno HARUKAS building house a department store, the 16th floor hosts an art museum, and the top floors from 58 to 60 comprise the Abeno HARUKAS 300 Observation Deck. The newly launched experiential attraction is called “EDGE THE HARUKAS,” offering a cliff-edge thrill on Japan’s tallest building.

Visitors wear safety ropes and walk across the rooftop as if traversing a steep cliff, enjoying views of Osaka from the edge of a skyscraper. The newly installed sky corridor at the top is about 60 centimeters wide and 20 meters long. Just leaning over the edge gives you the sensation of standing on a cliff, making it Japan’s first amusement facility offering a 300-meter-high aerial view.

Visitors can enjoy the scenery on the sky corridor for about seven minutes. In addition to the observation deck entry fee, there is a 1,000-yen charge per person, which includes the cost of a commemorative photo. There is no age limit for this facility, but there is a height restriction, and only five people are allowed per session.

Those wishing to try the experience can apply at the counter on the 60th floor of the Abeno Harukas building. They will need to sign a waiver and show ID, then put on a safety suit and harness before walking on the glass wall atop the building.
