Typhoon Gaemi moves northward toward Japan; watch for showers and localized heavy rain across regions

Typhoon Gaemi, a mild typhoon (international name: GAEMI), has a central pressure of 994 hPa. At 8:00 AM on the 16th, its center was located at 26.5°N, 127°E, which is 90 kilometers northwest of Ryukyu (590 kilometers northeast of Taipei). It is moving northeastward at a speed of 26 km/h. The maximum wind speed near the center is 20 m/s (approximately 72 km/h), equivalent to Force 8 winds.

On the 16th, the Central Weather Bureau continued to issue a heavy rain advisory for five counties and cities in southern Taiwan (Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung, and Taitung).
On the 18th (Dragon Boat Festival), the front will move northward, shifting moisture north. There is a chance of thunderstorms in the northern region. Temperatures across Taiwan will be around 25–30°C.
The Central Weather Bureau also reminds that there is currently a low-pressure system with a pressure of 1002 hPa located at 19°N, 115°E over the sea area of the Zhongsha and Xisha Islands, with the center nearly stationary. Whether it will develop into a typhoon in the future is also worth monitoring.
