A Japanese-style Historic Site Transformed into an Instagrammable Pink Mazu Exhibit Full of Girlish Charm

With the recent trend of renovating and revitalizing old buildings, Yongcui Pavilion in Huwei, Yunlin, has transformed its entire Japanese-style structure into an exhibition space. The latest May exhibition theme, “Pink Mazu with a Girly Heart,” uses soft pink tones as the main palette to create a highly dreamy space.

The May special exhibition draws inspiration from the bamboo sticks often used in Mazu processions, with cherry blossom hues as the main color scheme. It features a large number of paper strip garlands spread across the floor and hanging from the ceiling, crafting a highly dreamlike ambiance. The installation art is not only rich in ceremonial significance but also carries a strong artistic vibe.

Built during the Japanese colonial period, Yongcui Pavilion is designated as a Yunlin County historic site. It was originally a venue dedicated to hosting distinguished guests and important figures. After being leased and operated by the Taiwan Art Development Association in 2017, it frequently invites artists to reside on-site and regularly hosts a variety of exhibitions.
