Doudi’s Mom
In recent years, everyone’s been going crazy for hidden gem spots, and Penghu is no exception. Doudi’s Mom is actually from Penghu, but even we visited these hidden spots for the first time. Now we finally understand why everyone’s so obsessed with them — they’re truly beautiful and super photogenic. When you travel to Penghu, why not follow Doudi’s Mom and explore these hidden gems?

These five spots are all along the northern loop route. Head west toward Xiyu along County Highway 203, and you can easily stop by these hidden gems during your Penghu island tour (northern loop).
The “Donggang Old Pier” is located in Houliao Village, Baisha Township, Penghu, near Weiling Temple. This hidden spot is quite remote, and the road is a bit tricky to find. If you can’t find it, try navigating to Tiantang Road or Donggang Old Pier.
Before reaching Tiantang Road, you’ll have to walk across this “Tiantang Beach.” To see the beautiful scenery, you’ll have to pay a small price — bring your kids, but be ready to carry them!
We happened to visit at noon, with the sun blazing down on the beach. A group of us walked while joking… Is this the frog soldiers’ Tiantang Road?!
When we went, it was low tide, so we could walk all the way to the end to take photos. But if you come at high tide, you won’t be able to reach the end of Tiantang Road. At high tide, the waves crash up onto the seawall, making it slippery — one wrong step and you could fall. It can be dangerous, so stay safe while visiting Tiantang Road!
It’s recommended to check the tide chart before coming. You can refer to → Penghu National Scenic Area Tide Table
This is a winding seawall that extends from the beach into the sea like a sea snake. Also known as the “Penghu Tiantang Road,” it’s currently the most popular hidden gem in Penghu. On Tiantang Road, both the seascape in front and the beach behind make for stunning photo backdrops.
The width of Tiantang Road is only enough for one person to walk, or two people squeezing sideways. If you’re bringing little kids, extra care is needed to prevent them from running and falling onto the rocky shoreline. The seawall is very high, and falling off would probably really hurt. 😅
Standing on this Tiantang Road with the ocean as your backdrop makes for super pretty and photogenic shots.

This spot is right by the side of County Highway 203. As you drive by, you’ll see this wall covered in cool designs. Let’s take a look at it here.
The wall features designs of mountains, sea, a viewing platform/hiking trail, and the Tiantangxiyu logo, among other things.
You can walk up the trail, but since we were with kids, we didn’t go further. It looked like it would take a long time to climb, so we decided to skip it…
These two walls are the most photogenic parts of the park.
The designs on the walls create a unique vibe.
Located in the intertidal zone between Dachi and Chidong in Xiyu Township, a vast expanse of golden sand can be seen at low tide, but it disappears at high tide!
The sand on Dreamy Beach is very fine, making it perfect for strolling along the waves and playing in the sand. It’s advised not to swim here, as there are undercurrents that can be dangerous if you’re not familiar with the waters..
It’s also a great spot to enjoy the sunset!
This place was a hidden gem we accidentally discovered during a northern loop trip five years ago.
Located near Guan Di Temple in Zhuanwan Village, Xiyu Township, it’s about a 5-minute drive from Dreamy Beach. Depending on the tides, the photos come out differently. Doudi’s Mom still prefers the scenes with water — they look so dreamy!
If you come at high tide, when everything’s dry, the photos aren’t as impressive.
With the beautiful scenery as a backdrop, DouDou instantly had that mini internet celebrity vibe. Many people asked where the photos were taken while we were checking in — it was shot on the Double Arch Bridge.
The Double Arch Bridge extends from the shore into the sea, with its white structure complemented by green pavilions on either side.
The azure sky paired with the crystal-clear turquoise sea is truly breathtaking.
Looking back toward the shore from the hyperbolic bridge, that’s the Guan Di Temple.
The pavilion stands as if in the middle of the sea—coming here in the afternoon to enjoy the cool breeze and scenic views is a great idea too.
We stayed here for a while; although the sun was strong, it felt cool and refreshing sitting in the pavilion with the sea breeze.
This attraction is about a two-minute walk from the hyperbolic bridge, so it's very close and can easily be visited together.
Walk straight along the road beside the hyperbolic bridge, go all the way to the right until the end, and you’ll see the sign for “Chihhsi Columnar Basalt.” Follow the small path along the coast to the end, and you’ll get there. (If unsure of the way, use your phone’s navigation.)
This is Chihhsi’s hidden gem—the “columnar basalt.” It looks great whether you shoot from above or below, but there are no safety barriers, so please stay cautious when visiting.
We happened to visit during high tide—the seawater had come up quite a bit, and the seawall was slippery and quite dangerous, so we only took photos from the shore.
The spectacular columnar basalt—Penghu’s most famous is on Dongpan Islet, followed by those at Dayeyeh, but honestly, Chihhsi’s are also really nice. Just be sure to stay safe here; it’s best to visit during low tide when you can actually walk on the seawall.
This place is also called “Chihhsi Rock Waterfall.” They say that when it rains, water flows down the basalt columns, creating a waterfall-like scene.
With the columnar basalt rocks as your backdrop, taking an Instagram-worthy photo here is super eye-catching.
If you’re bringing young children, it’s best to just enjoy the view from the shore—there are no safety measures, the seawall path is narrow, and there’s a risk of falling.
Head up to check out the view above the basalt.
This area was originally an abalone farm, but it’s now abandoned—you can still see the grid of stone blocks. Paired with the blue-green sea, it’s actually quite beautiful.
The grassy field above the basalt is also a great spot for photos, but again, there are no safety precautions, so watch your step while enjoying the view—especially if you’re with children.
The Penghu hidden spots shared above are truly stunning and perfect for photos. One more reminder: always prioritize your safety when visiting these secluded spots.
