Dou Di’s Mom
The “Cats on the Roof” and “Cat Elementary School” in Dingxi Community, Yunlin, were jointly developed by students from Huwei University of Science and Technology and local residents, centered around the theme of “cats,” to create a painted cat village unique to Dingxi. The community features numerous 3D cat murals where you can interact with the cats and take photos. Bring Dou Dou and Di Di to find these adorable little cats and enjoy a fun day of school with them.

Actually, we visited four years ago when this place was very popular and crowded. Back then, there was only the Cats on the Roof. Later, the Cat Elementary School was added. This time, we got to visit both spots in one trip, and you can also combine it with nearby attractions → Chenglin Agarwood Forest Scent Museum, which feels like stepping into a hidden paradise.
The Cats on the Roof and Chenglin Agarwood Scent Museum are about an 8-minute drive apart.
The community isn’t large, but along the way, you’ll see cats in various poses painted on walls, bus stops, and ticket booths. You can even interact by holding an umbrella and waiting for the bus with the cats.
The walls along the road are covered in beautiful murals, with cats visible everywhere.
There are also stunning 3D landscape paintings on the iron gates. Sitting on the chairs makes it feel like you’ve truly stepped into the painting.
Each painting has a strong sense of depth. Walking up the stairs feels like entering the painting. Dou Dou climbed the steps hoping to high-five the cat in the mural—limited by height, this was the best high-five she could manage… haha.
The Cats on the Roof is a mini “cat house park,” featuring many cute 3D cats playing inside.
