France Selects the World’s 1000 Best Restaurants — 5 from Taiwan Make the List

The "La Liste" culinary ranking, led by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Tourism Development Agency, recently announced the world’s 1000 best restaurants. The top-rated restaurant is Paris’s "Guy Savoy," while Taiwan also has five entries on the list: RAW founded by celebrity chef André Chiang, the Nordic restaurant MUME, the modern Taiwanese cuisine venue YIN YEH 101 Gourmet House, Shao Shuai Zen Garden, and Really Good Seafood Restaurant.

RAW is known in Taiwan as the hardest restaurant to book. André Chiang hopes to redefine Taiwanese flavors through RAW. Recently celebrating its second anniversary, RAW has not only been named one of the world’s 1000 best restaurants but has also won numerous international awards over the past two years, including World’s Most Beautiful Design Restaurant, Asia’s Best Design Restaurant, Saint-Péray Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, and The World’s 50 Best Restaurants. MUME is a new European-style restaurant run by four chefs and has remained popular since its opening at the end of 2014.

YIN YEH’s Taiwanese cuisine is a nostalgic favorite for many. YIN YEH 101 Gourmet House is located on the 85th floor of Taipei 101, featuring open-view windows facing east, north, and west, offering views of the Tamsui River estuary and changing cloudscapes. Shao Shuai Zen Garden, located in Beitou, is the site where Zhang Xueliang was once under house arrest, now a serene Zen-style garden. As for Really Good Seafood Restaurant, it specializes in authentic seafood and is hailed as the top seafood eatery in Taipei.
