This Qiaohu Knock-Knock Rolling Fun set really blew chubby mama away. Who would’ve thought that just four balls and a mallet could stimulate such a wide range of learning for your child? How is it so magical?! Let chubby mama introduce it to you right away!!!
So,
When chubby baby came back from the U.S. to Taiwan for vacation at the age of one, chubby mama introduced her to “Qiaohu Human Forest”...
And then really,Oh no, actually, chubby baby just couldn’t accept any love other than Qiaohu in her heart anymore XD
No wonder people say Qiaohu is truly the ultimate idol in every little kid’s heart,
Truly irreplaceable.
Over time, we’ve been subscribing quietly for over a year now,
And chubby mama has accumulated quite a collection of Qiaohu merchandise and parenting goodies,
Whether it’s the ones that come with the Qiaohu books delivered to our home each month,
Or the extra Qiaohu products chubby mama ordered separately,
Every single item is really amazing,
So I’ve decided to share them with you all from time to time. Don’t let their seemingly simple designs fool you,
Because once you look into them more deeply, you’ll be absolutely amazed by the intention behind their design—because almost every single one helps children learn in super, super, super diverse cognitive ways.
So how could I not introduce them and share them with everyone?
As everyone knows, chubby baby just recently turned two—what everyone calls the Terrible Twos,
Which is also the stage where she says no to this and no to that (the age that often drives chubby mama crazy @@)
Basically, chubby mama has observed chubby baby’s recent behavior and realized that games for two-year-olds are no longer something you can easily get through by just handing her any random small toy.
Two-year-old babies are at a stage where their little brains are rapidly absorbing new knowledge.
Therefore, they can begin entering the formal “learning” stage—for example: colors, numbers, English letters, sentence expression, and more.
Chubby mama also wants to remind parents whose kids are at this stage that what they need most is “parental companionship,” which means lots of “parent-child interaction.”
Guide children to learn the right cognition and knowledge through fun interactions with parents.
Parents can also take this opportunity to observe their children’s learning progress and reactions.
“Play” requires appropriate teaching materials,
For kids at this stage, chubby mama recommends choosing educational toys that are multifunctional and promote diverse cognitive learning.
Because age two is also when kids are super active and curious about everything around them, eager to explore.
So when choosing toys, it’s best if they allow kids to move their whole body—from head to toe.
So today, chubby mama will start by introducing chubby baby’s new favorite—the Qiaohu Knock-Knock Rolling Ball Fun set!!
Tiger Qiao’s Banging Ball Fun
Recommended age: 1y-2y
Contents: 1 ball-banging board (approx. 16X15.7X5.9 cm) / 4 balls (red, yellow, blue, green, approx. 4.6 cm in diameter) / 1 banging stick (approx. 10X6.8 cm)
Cognitive learning: color matching / numbers 123 / English ABC
This Tiger Qiao Banging Ball Fun set really gets our little chubby excited—he’s always super into things he can bang on,
and “balls” are one of his all-time favorite things,
so this set is absolutely perfect for him.
When we received the package, the packaging was super “Tiger Qiao”-style—just adorable...
The back also thoughtfully includes “important notice for parents” safety info.
How to Think products don’t go for overly flashy or fancy packaging; instead, they use simple, minimalistic packaging to hold the items.
Actually, I (the mom) found it really charming when we opened it. Plus, it’s very eco-friendly—which is what really matters.
Some might wonder if just a simple board + 4 balls + a banging stick is enough to keep kids entertained for long.
Heh, hey hey, I had the exact same doubt at first, too.
But after playing with chubby a few times, I discovered three fun little ways to play that I want to share with you.
These different play methods can also stimulate various areas of your child’s development.
[Game 1] *You Throw I Fetch or You Push I Roll*How to play: Parents and child can take out the balls separately, then either the parent or the child gives instructions for the child to play “you throw I fetch” using a specific color, or sit on the floor and play “you push I roll” by pushing the balls with their hands.
Cognitive learning: basic color recognition / concept of numbers 123
Learning goal: hand muscle training—helping the child practice grasping the balls to develop fine motor skills.
First, let’s look at these four balls—red (Red), yellow (Yellow), blue (Blue), and green (Green).
Each one has bright, saturated colors,
which not only help babies who are just starting to learn colors recognize the basics,
but also have the numbers 123 printed on both sides of each ball.
This way, children can learn colors and start to grasp the concept of “numbers 123” as well.
At first I thought the balls weren’t very big, so the numbers 123 might be hard to see.
But unexpectedly, the numbers on the balls are not only printed on both sides but also embossed very clearly.
Parents can use just these four balls to interact with their child while teaching them to recognize numbers 123.
The embossed numbers 123 are also very clear, even if the ball colors are lighter—it’s a really great design.
[Game 2] *Color Matching Game*How to play: Parents can play along with the child or guide the child to put each ball into the hole on the ball-banging board that matches its color.
Cognitive Learning: Basic Color Recognition
Learning Objectives:
1. Hand Muscle Training – Let your little one practice grasping the ball to develop fine motor skills.
2. Observation Training – Guide your baby to observe the corresponding colors of the ball and the ball-hitting board.
This game is quite suitable for babies who haven’t yet learned to recognize colors, as there are only four colors.
Parents can first guide their child to learn each color one by one, and once they’re familiar with all four,
ask the child to place different colored balls in the correct positions based on the color indicators on the ball-hitting board.
A-Pang has been able to recognize colors since she was very young, so these four colors are ‘a piece of cake’ for her.
She quickly placed them all without hesitation.
[Play Method 3] *Pounding Fun Game*How to Play: Guide your child to use the pounding stick to hit the color specified by the parent and make it fall into the hole.
Cognitive Learning: Basic Color Recognition
Learning Objectives:
1. Hand Muscle Training – Let your little one practice grasping the pounding stick to develop fine motor skills and practice pounding actions.
2. Observation Training – Guide your baby to observe the ball falling out of the hole after being hit, sparking curiosity.
3. Hand-Eye Coordination Training – Have your child grip the pounding stick firmly and aim to hit the ball.
Don’t be fooled by how simple these little actions may seem.
At first, A-Ma even thought this might be too easy for A-Pang.
But just look at how A-Pang holds the pounding stick in the picture below—you’ll see that coordinating hand and eye movements to both grip the stick and hit the ball is actually still a bit challenging for a two-year-old.
Pfft, A-Pang just seems to love holding the pounding stick this way—no matter how I try to correct her, she keeps doing it this way.
Is this some kind of alternative style?! ( shrugs~~~ )
Or else she does it like this!!! Now she’s just treating the hammer like a ball and grabbing it directly XD
Actually, I’ve been wondering whether constantly “correcting” A-Pang’s way of holding the pounding stick is really the right thing to do.
Because she always has her own unique grip.
If I keep using our “standard” correct way of holding the pounding stick to “regulate” how A-Pang should do it – I’m afraid I might be stifling her creativity.
So in the end, I decided not to nag A-Pang about it anymore XD (Being a parent is hard =.=)
After seeing A-Ma’s introduction to ‘three ways to play with one toy,’ do you agree with me that this is truly a thoughtfully designed, versatile parenting essential?
No wonder Qiaohu is so popular with both kids and adults…
Check out the video of A-Pang playing with it—you’ll see that it’s still a bit challenging for her. Hehe.
And you can also discover even more different ways to play.
Actually, Pang Ma still wants to say,
no matter how simple or complex a toy is,
the most important thing is 'parental companionship'—something Pang Ma has always emphasized.
Remember, it’s not just about being 'present' nearby while the adults use their phones or do their own things,
don’t forget to also 'accompany'—play games together and engage in parent-child interaction.
Through plenty of parent-child interaction, not only can the child enjoy the company and guided learning from parents,
but parents can also observe their child’s every move, and even their thoughts, ideas, and logic through these interactions!!
