The European Direct Christmas Market, hosted by China Airlines, kicked off on the 9th. With a giant Christmas tree set up on-site to create a festive scene, and a charming Christmas cottage brought in to serve authentic international snacks and desserts, the market drew large crowds as soon as it opened at 2:00 p.m. Entry is free and no tickets are required — the three-day event is designed to let people get into the holiday spirit early.
On the opening day of the Huashan Christmas Market, people queued up early in the morning to purchase limited-edition Christmas gift bags from China Airlines. During the opening ceremony, China Airlines Chairman Ho Nuan-hsuan and others also drew and awarded three lucky winners with extra China Airlines A350 round-trip tickets to Europe. Celebrity actor Eddie Peng also made an appearance to make cute gingerbread houses, and later served as a commentator introducing China Airlines’ family sleeper cabins.

At the Christmas market, you can sample traditional German Christmas sweets with over 100 years of history, Dutch cheeses, Italian imported Christmas bread, Austrian hot vodka, and even must-have holiday drinks like mulled wine. CONDIT, a century-old German dessert shop, set up a three-day pop-up store in Taiwan. Two handsome young chefs, Jens & Jasco, specially prepared classic German Christmas treats for Taiwanese visitors — including Baumkuchen (tree cake) and Pralines. Experience a truly traditional German Christmas feast. Simonhoeve, a Dutch organic farm, is also making its first-ever visit to Taiwan, bringing 200 kilograms of cheese directly, along with customized hand-painted wooden clogs and traditional Dutch attire.

As the market continues, even more people are expected to show up over the weekend. China Airlines has also invited the bands Won Fu and Universe People to perform on the stage area, plus exciting shows by a well-known Dutch DJ and a Bavarian German band. Throughout the market, there will be random giveaways of cotton candy, appearances by living statues, cheese-lifting competitions, and DIY Christmas ornament workshops to help everyone soak up the festive atmosphere early.
