Jiaoxi Hot Springs are sodium bicarbonate springs, rich in chemical components such as sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium, and carbonate ions, making them a rare type of plains hot spring in Taiwan.
Within about 2 kilometers of Jiaoxi Railway Station, there are nearly a hundred hotels, inns, and bathhouses, creating the unique scenery of a hot spring town. Jiaoxi Hot Springs are clear and odorless, with temperatures around 58°C when they reach the surface. After bathing, your skin feels smooth and delicate without stickiness. Due to their mineral richness, soaking or bathing here is wonderful. Additionally, Tangwei Gully Hot Spring Park, located between Deyang Road and Ren’ai Road in Jiaoxi Township, features hot spring footbaths for visitors to enjoy.

Beitou Hot Springs have been famous since the Japanese colonial period, and it’s no surprise that the Japanese, who love hot spring bathing, didn’t miss out. Long-Nai-Tang, Xing-Nai-Tang, and Tie-Nai-Tang are names given by the Japanese based on the characteristics and therapeutic effects of the springs. They are said to be highly effective for skin diseases, neurasthenia, asthma, and rheumatism. The source of Beitou Hot Springs is the Dashueizui Hot Spring, which is a sulfate spring with a pH of about 3–4. The water is yellowish-white and semi-transparent, with temperatures ranging from about 50–90°C and a slight sulfur smell. It’s a fantastic hot spring destination in northern Taiwan.

The most well-known attraction in Guguan Scenic Area is Guguan Hot Springs, which are rated as high-quality carbonated springs, classified as weak alkaline carbonic springs with temperatures around 48–60°C. The water is mild in nature and highly effective for arthritis, neuralgia, gastrointestinal issues, and athlete’s foot. For therapeutic effects through hot spring bathing, long-term and repeated immersion is needed. Guguan Hot Springs in Taichung are widely renowned, and the area has seen the development of numerous hot spring hotels, each offering accommodation, bathing, and the currently popular hot spring spa facilities—truly excellent.

The unique mud hot springs of Guanziling in Tainan are one of Taiwan’s four major hot springs. They are also found only in Sicily, Italy, and Kirishima, Japan, earning the reputation of the “World’s Number One Spiritual Hot Spring.” Guanziling is located east of Baihe and surrounded by hills such as Tiger Head Mountain, Big Frost Mountain, and Pillow Mountain. Since the construction of National Highway No. 3, it takes just about 10 minutes from the Baihe Interchange to reach the hot spring area—very convenient for family outings.

It's freezing cold outside, and you don't want to brave the wind with your kids? Spend an intellectually enriching New Year holiday at museums and art galleries instead. We've gathered plenty of museum information—bring your kids along to discover new knowledge and appreciate art together!

Dinosaur-loving little boys at home will be excited again—there’s a new dinosaur exhibition coming up. Dinosaur exhibits may not be rare, but a dinosaur egg exhibit is truly unprecedented. The National Museum of Natural Science has collaborated with the Zhejiang Museum of Natural History in China to launch a special exhibition themed around “Dinosaur Eggs.”
