The year-end is here, and many expectant mothers have also joined the "Spring Festival travel rush." How can you ensure safety while traveling during pregnancy? Recently, the "American Pregnancy Association" answered some of the most common questions on its official website.

1. Can you travel during pregnancy? If the pregnant woman has no obvious complications, traveling is completely fine, and the ideal time to go out is during the first three months of pregnancy. At this stage, the pregnant woman neither experiences morning sickness from the early stages of pregnancy nor feels as fatigued as in the later months.

2. Can you take public transportation while pregnant? Pregnant women can travel by train or bus, but keep the following points in mind: First, when riding in a private car, always fasten all seat belts and ensure the airbag is activated to minimize safety risks. Second, because bus aisles and seats are very narrow, pregnant women should remain seated while the bus is moving. Hold onto fixed objects firmly when getting on and off the bus to maintain balance. Finally, try to limit each trip to 5–6 hours. Use stoppage times to stretch and promote blood circulation.

3. Can you fly while pregnant? Pregnant women can take flights, but consider the following: Most flights only allow women who are less than eight months pregnant to board, so confirm in advance. The airplane cabin is cramped, and turbulence can easily cause jostling, so hold onto nearby supports when walking down the aisle. Alternatively, choose a seat near the aisle for easier access to the restroom and to stretch.

4. Can you go sailing while pregnant? Of course, but remember the following precautions. Gather information to ensure there is medical personnel on board in case of emergencies. Check the entire itinerary to confirm whether you can disembark for medical care if necessary. Make sure any seasickness medication you bring is safe for pregnant women and won’t harm the fetus—seasickness patches may be more convenient.

5. Can you travel abroad while pregnant? Traveling abroad during pregnancy involves unknown health risks, so confirm the following information in advance: Consult a doctor about potential adverse factors the foreign environment may pose to you and your baby. Learn about current epidemics in your destination country through various sources, consult your doctor about necessary vaccinations, and carry a health record with you. Due to changes in water and food, travelers abroad are most prone to dysentery, which can cause dehydration in pregnant women. Therefore, pregnant women should drink bottled or canned beverages as much as possible; ensure milk is pasteurized; and make sure all meat is thoroughly cooked.
