1. Pack warm clothing: In northern China, winter temperatures typically drop below 0°C. Your wardrobe should prioritize lightweight, comfortable, sporty, and thermal items. Essential items include down jackets, wool sweaters, wool pants, hats, gloves, and scarves. Indoor and outdoor temperatures vary greatly, so adjust your clothing accordingly—remove coats and hats upon entering heated spaces!

2. Watch your step on slippery surfaces: Roads in northern China are often icy and snowy in winter, making them extremely slippery. Leather boots can easily cause slips, so it's best to wear snowproof, anti-slip cotton shoes—they offer superior grip. Shoes with inner fleece lining are ideal, and the uppers should be slightly higher to protect your ankles. Cotton insoles are a must, and you should choose shoes a size larger than usual to allow your feet some room to move and improve circulation.

3. During outdoor activities, if any part of your body feels cold, keep moving to improve blood flow. If you experience frostbite, cracked skin, or numbness in your extremities, do not use hot water to warm up the affected areas.

4. Winter weather is dry and cold, which can easily lead to chapped skin. Use oil-based skincare products for better protection. The dry air may also cause a dry mouth—placing a bottle of water in your room at night and drinking it in the morning can help.

5. Always check for water or ice underfoot when getting out of a vehicle. Be cautious—the roads are slippery in winter. Walk carefully with your knees slightly bent and your weight shifted forward to maintain balance and avoid falls. Even if you do fall, this posture helps prevent head injuries.

6. Bring medications: Winter is cold, so pack cold remedies and other essential medicines when traveling.

7. Before departure, engage in cold-resistance training and pack ample clothing and daily necessities based on the severity of the cold at your destination.
