There’s nothing better than playing in the water on a hot summer day. This time, Baby Wen visited the Hakka Mountain City to beat the heat. Every summer, the civic square in front of the Miaoli County Government is filled with water play facilities. With various attractions such as dancing fountains, landmines, and palm trees—all designed to the same standards as the Yilan Dongshan River Children's Play Festival—you can let your little ones enjoy a wide range of water fun without even buying a ticket.
As soon as they arrived at the water park, Brother Fubao couldn’t wait to gear up with his own waterproof backpack and water gun and charge right in, calling his friends to join in the water battle. There are really so many types of play equipment here that you could have fun for an hour or two without getting bored. After rushing in, Brother Fubao was first drenched by a powerful jet of water and was almost ready to retreat—but Baby Wen, acting as the team leader, pulled him back into the fray. Dodging left and right, their heads and feet were both hit by water jets. It’s highly recommended that parents join in the fun with their kids. Getting soaked all over in the summer is truly refreshing. The park stays open until 20:00, and at night there are LED projection lights that combine with the dancing fountain to create colorful lighting effects. Visitors can not only enjoy the super-cooling splash fun but also admire the spectacular water light show.
▲ Get completely soaked under the waterfalls—you’ll be dripping wet. ▲ A variety of water play equipment, many built to the same standards as those used in children's festivals. ▲ Grab your big water gun and charge into the water battlefield. ▲ Surrounded by water jets from all directions, Baby Wen and his son had an absolute blast.
There are parking spaces available on both sides of the fountain plaza. Restrooms are located inside the county government building next to the plaza—just let an administrator know and you can go in. The restrooms do not have flushing facilities, but you can use them to dry off and change clothes. After playing in the water, the kids will definitely be hungry. The civic square is located in downtown Miaoli, with plenty of Hakka cuisine restaurants nearby. Plan a half-day trip in the afternoon—bring your kids to Miaoli for some water fun and great food. It’s killing two birds with one stone.
