◆ Tainan – Longqi Wen Heng Temple (Iron Man)
Address of Longqi Wen Heng Temple: No. 3-2, Zhongkeng, Zhongkeng Li, Longqi District, Tainan City
The last time I visited Tainan, I explored quite a few suburban attractions, which greatly enriched this trip. Before heading to Tainan, Xiao Hai mentioned wanting to visit a temple to take photos—to shoot superheroes from the Avengers and Transformers?

At the time, I was completely baffled. Who would’ve thought that in Longqi District, Tainan, there’s a ‘Longqi Wen Heng Temple’ where, on either side of the main hall’s deities, they’ve placed the incredibly popular Avengers and Transformers figures in recent years? At first, only the highly popular Iron Man was displayed, but it attracted so many visitors coming to see and pay homage that, over time, Transformers and the Hulk were added, instantly drawing crowds that filled the temple. Temples are always solemn and sacred places, so I couldn’t help but worry—wouldn’t all this seem a bit out of place or inappropriate?
But then I thought, having these iconic movie stars here is actually pretty great!
It takes about 30 minutes to get to Longqi Wen Heng Temple from downtown Tainan. It was my first time entering Longqi District. I had originally planned to check out some nearby attractions, but unfortunately, there just wasn’t enough time. Driving smoothly along the road, you’ll soon see the sign for ‘Longqi Wen Heng Temple’.
It’s hard to believe these big-name movie stars are hidden here. (Though to be fair, the little girl is just that—a kid who has zero interest in robots...Q? Aside from the temple guardian beasts, you can see sculptures of people. With Rongrong’s limited appreciation skills, the middle piece looks like someone getting a haircut—any idea what the two people holding sticks on the sides are? Bodyguards, maybe? Anyone who knows, feel free to explain!)
There are also people playing the erhu and flute, adding a touch of artistry to the place. The auspicious beasts here are quite charming, making everyone smile when they take photos.

Of course, today we’re here to see these movie stars, displayed along both sides of the hall. First up is Iron Man, originally placed in the Wen Heng Temple. It’s undeniable that the Iron Man movies created a huge craze. Watching this film gives you a glimpse into the technological direction of future generations. There's the projection-style touchscreen movie interface, small yet high-capacity batteries (like the one on the hero’s chest), the ability to fly wearing Iron Man boots, and more. Xiao Hai said that the future of mobile phones might shift from wearable devices to projection-based ones—no physical form needed, just projections to display the screen and make calls. Small, portable, high-capacity batteries, and shoes that give you cat-like jumping abilities—these are his takeaways from watching the film. Of course, whether any of this will come true is for the future to prove, but that’s also the charm of sci-fi films: they spark the imagination of many about what the future could hold. Naturally, all the Iron Man suits featured in *Iron Man 3* can be seen here. Next up is *Transformers*, where aliens team up with humans, featuring mechanical humanoid robots. It also includes the robot cartoons Xiao Hai loved watching as a kid, brought to life through cinematic techniques. The result? A thrilling, massive, and action-packed world of cars, guns, and battles that also makes you wonder: could there be other forms of life in outer space?
Both Xiao Hai and I feel there probably is. The galaxy is so vast, with countless unknown planets—how can we assume that only human-like beings exist? But opinions on this have always been sharply divided, so we’ll just have to leave it for the future to uncover.

The Hulk Buster, which is basically an enlarged version of Iron Man, is another standout attraction. Being able to see so many movie stars in a temple is truly special. Both adults and kids will love visiting the ‘Longqi Wen Heng Temple’ and taking photos with Iron Man, the Hulk, and the Transformers.
