Introduction:
It’s time for another one-day trip to Meinong. This time, we’re exploring the mountain-sea combined route. The first stop was having a meal at the forest café “Ueda Café” in the mountains. We then strolled along County Road Miaoli 130 through the mountains from Sanyi all the way to Yuanli. The rural scenery along the way was beautiful, with vast fields of rapeseed flowers to admire. After descending the mountain, we headed to Jinliangxing Sightseeing Factory to experience a unique brick kiln atmosphere. Join baby Wen (bobowin) as we explore Yuanli together.

During the New Year, this is the most delightful color. There are so many sightseeing factories across the country, but I think Jinliangxing, with its brick and tile theme, is probably the only one. Inside the Jinliangxing Brick Factory is a 162-meter-long tunnel kiln, which is only open for interior tours during its annual maintenance period of twelve days (from the third to the fifteenth day of the Lunar New Year). Don’t miss these last few days—be sure to go take a look. The admission fee is NT$100 for adults and NT$80 for concessions, which can be used as a NT$50 discount on purchases. If you want to try coloring your own brick tile coaster, it’s NT$180 each, brick carving is NT$350, and controlling the kiln costs NT$150 per person. Buy your ticket and go explore. Kids who dream of being architects will definitely find it exciting.

See the little windmills in the park? That’s the DIY area, also a favorite spot for kids. The artworks made of bricks and tiles have a unique charm. Some are also available for sale in the venue—you can ask the staff for details.

Outside the DIY area, there’s a children’s play zone. There’s super tricky stilts—baby Wen tried for ages but still couldn’t manage it. There’s also the classic ring toss game you might have played as a kid. Trust me, you’ll have more fun than the little ones. Then follow the visiting route to explore. During the maintenance period, there are still plenty of red bricks waiting to be shipped in the park. You can observe how they’re stacked—it’s quite fascinating.

The deeper you go, the hotter it gets and the thinner the air becomes. The tracks on the ground are usually for moving brick carts, but inside the tunnel, there are displays of brick carving artworks. It’s like starting a maze. The Golden Snake Maze—go go go. The height is just right for little toddlers. Watching baby Wen run around and think inside is really amusing. The unburnt bricks are stacked neatly on carts, ready to be pushed into the tunnel kiln. There’s also specialized machinery for making red bricks—all fully automated.

Looking at the rows of bricks, it’s like seeing the Terracotta Army. See the drying lines on top? After the visit, the kids finish their DIY projects too. Here’s the work by little Di.

Before leaving, take a photo with the Jinliangxing Sightseeing Factory logo. This factory tour during the New Year’s visit was truly rewarding.
